The archives and book history section
A section of the library is devoted to the history of archives and book-related topics so as to provide readers a deeper understanding of these themes, which are at the heart of the Imec project.

The shelves cover the following topics:
- Archives: memory and heritage, forms and functions of writing, archivistics.
- Printed matter: its forms (books, presses, magazines, engravings, prints and other printed materials) and its industry (authors, publishers, printers, typographers, graphic designers, booksellers, readers, librarians).
Each theme offers a variety of approaches which are often cross-disciplinary, whether it be historical, geographical, sociological, economic, legal... The heart of the Imec lies in the practices and developments of the written transmission. This is why this special collection is open to professionals, academics, curious and book enthusiasts alike, unfolding the history of books and archives as a whole and encouraging its exploration, from Antiquity to the digital age.
