When is an authorization needed ?

An authorization may be required to access certain documents or collections. It is thus important to check the status of the requested archives beforehand.

When is an authorization needed?

The Imec holds the private archives of both natural persons (authors and artists) and legal entities (publishing houses, magazines, associations). Certain types of documents—unpublished works, correspondences, biographical elements, iconography, etc.—may involve a specific procedure, and often require an authorization from the authors or their rights holders.

The library and archives help desk (chercheurs@imec-archives.com) can request authorizations on your behalf for authors whose archives are held at the Imec. In other cases, you will need to search for and get in touch with the writers or their rights holders and send us their authorization. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the library and archives help desk and we will gladly assist you during this process.
